Add notes, files, and templates

Use templates to organize content fast and keep items in the right category.

Add notes, files, and templates

Lastkey treats every item as sensitive. Notes are encrypted the same way as files before they are uploaded.

Use templates for speed

Templates guide you through the most common items and place them into the right category automatically. Start with:

  • Read this first
  • Password manager instructions
  • Insurance policy
  • Crypto recovery
  • Emergency contacts

Templates can produce either a secure note or a file upload with a minimal label.

Add a secure note

Secure notes are ideal for instructions and context that a beneficiary needs to act quickly.

  • Keep the note short and action-oriented.
  • Add attachments if a scanned document helps.
  • Use categories so the item is easy to find later.

Upload files

Upload documents like insurance policies, legal docs, or account summaries.

The pinned "Read this first" note

This note is the first thing a beneficiary should read. Include:

  • Your priorities ("Start here first")
  • Critical contacts
  • Where to find passwords or recovery codes

Keeping it short makes it easier to act under stress.
